Tim Bledsoe is serving his first term as State Representative for the 1st House District, which covers Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Township, Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe Park, Gross Pointe Woods, Harper Woods and East Detroit.
As State Representative, Bledsoe will:
- Strengthen Michigan's schools, so they can prepare our children to compete for jobs in the 21st century global economy.
- Make Michigan a leader in renewable energy technologies, which will create jobs for our workers and strengthen our economy.
- Create incentives to attract new businesses to the state and encourage their growth.
Bledsoe moved to Michigan nearly 20 years ago to teach political science at Wayne State University. Bledsoe earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Louisiana State University. He later received his master’s from the University of Arkansas, and then his Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska.
Bledsoe is married to Dr. Mary Herring, a professor at Wayne State University. His daughter, Daisy, is a recent graduate of Grosse Pointe South High School. Bledsoe and his family are long-time residents of Grosse Pointe, and are active members of Christ Church Grosse Pointe in Grosse Pointe Farms.
